BEST FRONTMAN #6: FREDDIE MERCURY of QUEEN

Freddie Mercury was a pianist, a songwriter - though he has stated that he could barely read music, and is often regarded as one of the greatest singers in rock music (thanks to impressive projection, rapid vibrato, and use of falsetto) with an effective range of 4 octaves.

But perhaps Freddie Mercury's biggest legacy was that of a theatrical rock performer. Queen favored stadium shows and Freddie encouraged participation from the large audiences.

Queen's 1985 Live Aid performance was voted the best live rock performance of all time in an industry poll
