#6: "I DECLARE BANKRUPTCY!"

MICHAEL SCOTT

of The Office

There is no character on tv who is more obtuse...ignorant...oblivious than Michael Gary Scott...
Of course, he thinks he's the wittiest, coolest, smartest boss ever...

No matter what ridiculous things he says - or what horribly annoying things he does, I can't wait to see what's next. He's pretty much an 8 year old trapped in a man's body. And though he may do outlandish things - things that no one would do in "real life", it somehow works...ridiculous as it is.

Burning your foot on a Foreman Grill?
Typical Michael Scott.

Organizing a charity run for rabies after hitting someone with your car?
Typical Michael Scott.

Attempting to stage a fake suicide to show that an office work environment is just as dangerous as a warehouse work environment?
Typical Michael Scott.

Marking your date with a Sharpie so you'll remember who she is?
Typical Michael Scott.

MY FAVORITE TV SHOWS #2

THE OFFICE

I think it takes a certain sense of humor to "get" this show. My husband and I have the first 3 seasons on DVD and watch them pretty much nightly. And we have many of the 4th season episodes on our DVR as well. We are a bit Office-Obsessed, I suppose.

What is so great about The Office? I don't know. Of course, it's funny And it's so simplistic and weird. If I've had a stressful day (not that I have stressful days), coming home and vegging out watching The Office is the perfect cure.

MY TOP 5 FAVORITE EPISODES:
Note: This is hard. (That's what she said) In selecting the five episodes, I considered which ones were best, front to back (that's what she said).

#5 Traveling Salesmen
(season 3)
They break into pairs and go on sales calls. Andy chooses Michael and uses the opportunity to try to sabatoge Dwight. Phyllis chooses Karen and takes her for an unflattering makeover on the way to the sales call. Jim is stuck with Dwight...and this happens:

#4 The Dundies
(season 2)
Michael emcees the annual Dunder Mifflin Scranton award ceremony known as The Dundies...at Chili's, complete with poorly done song parodies and inappropriate awards.

#3 Dinner Party
(season 4)
Michael tricks Jim and Pam (and Andy and Angela) into coming over for dinner with him and Jan. A look at the home life of Michael Scott and his weird relationship with the increasingly crazy Jan Levinson.

#2 The Client
(season 2)
One of the few episodes in which Michael does something to prove his worth as a regional manager of Dunder Mifflin. The BEST part of the episode is the original screenplay that the rest of the office discovers in Michael's desk while Michael is out of the office..."Threat Level Midnight"!

#1 Safety Training
(season 3)
After attending a safety training meeting in the warehouse, Michael sets out to prove that office work is just as dangerous, if not more, than warehouse work. So may great things in this episode: Darryl and the sea monster taunting Michael, Dwight shunning Andy, Michael's ridiculous fake suicide plan...

A couple of other great scenes I found on youtube:

DARRYL'S GANG EXPERIENCE
After Stanley talks back, Michael visits Darryl in the warehouse for advice...
JIM IMPERSONATES DWIGHT

AND, if you are a fan of The Office, you might enjoy these fan-made trailer spoofs as well! If you are not a fan of The Office, you probably won't.

Threat Level Midnight
The Death of Jim Halpert
The Office 300
Office Invasion
Toby Snaps
Where you can see this show: Thursdays at 8:30/7:30c on NBC
Tuesdays at 10/9c on TBS
