#10: "GET OUT OF THE CITY!"

BALKI BARTOKOMOUS

of Perfect Strangers

Balki Bartokomous, a shepherd from the fictional island of Mypos, came to America to find his cousin, Larry. Balki was refreshingly naive and optimistic, and a just plain 100% good guy with a 100% good heart - the kind of character rarely seen on tv - or in real life.

His misinterpretation of American slang - and the English language in general - his wacky Myposian customs, and his enthusiasm in going along with cousin Larry's ill-conceived schemes made for much hilarity, consistent throughout the series.

CLASSIC BALKI MOMENTS:

"Momma told me never to do the dance of joy alone, or I would go blind."

From one of my favorite episodes:
And the Mypos cure for the common cold:

"Well, feed me garlic and call me stinky!"
