BEVERLY HILLS 90210

I almost left this one off the list because I only like the first 3 seasons out of the total 10 seasons it was on air. However, this show was so much a part of my early teens, that I can't NOT include it. I own the first 3 seasons on DVD and love watching it even still.

This show came out in 1990, when I was 12-going-on-13. I was the ideal audience. Young enough (and impressionable enough) to look up to the characters...but old enough to get crazy crushes on the guys and spend my allowance buying magazines that featured them on the cover. (Dylan was my crush of choice, btw)

#5 Isn't It Romantic

(season 1)

This episode marked the beginning of Brenda and Dylan's relationship. She accidentally walks in on him while he's showering and he then asks her out...as he stands there in a towel? See for yourself:

By mid-episode Brenda has already decided to sleep with Dylan, but he stands her up because of issues with his dad. Relationship drama ensues. And in a coincidental side story, their school has a guest speaker come in to talk about AIDS which makes Brenda decide to take things slowly and requests that Dylan get an AIDS test.

#4 Wildfire

(season 2)

It's a new school year at West Beverly High. And a new student - Emily Valentine. All the guys fall for Emily. All the girls get jealous. Especially Brenda...

Of course, at the end of the episode, they all make nice and perform in the talent show together. Side story, David Silver's BFF comes back to town after spending the summer in Oklahoma and now they have nothing in common...because apparently a summer in Oklahoma turns one into a country music loving cowboy.

#3 Beach Blanket Brandon

(season 2)

This one was from the "summer episodes", which was an awesome thing. New episodes in the middle of summer! The plot of this one is...Brandon quits the Peach Pit for a better paying job at the beach club. Meanwhile, Brenda, Donna, and Andrea take a summer acting class. And Brenda has a pregnancy scare prompting her to...well, check out the video of this classic scene...

B.Y.O.B.

(season 1)

The parents go out of town and Brenda and Brandon throw a party. The party gets out of hand, the house gets trashed, and Brandon ends up driving drunk and having a car accident. And the secondary story of the parents in Palm Springs is pretty funny - they get stalked by a pair of Texas swingers.

Brenda's sleepover goes bad when Kelly's snooty friend shows up. They play an evil game of something called "skeletons in the closet", which is really just Truth or Dare without the dares. Everyone turns against the snooty friend - until they find out HER skeleton in the closet - she is addicted to diet pills! After some wise teenage words, they combat the addiction and self-esteem issues and eat ice cream together.
