MY FAVORITE TV SHOWS #6

KATE AND ALLIE

I'm not sure what it is about this show that I love so much...It's kind of like comfort food. Something from the past - from simpler times...

The show is about best friends, Kate and Allie, who have both recently divorced. So, they move in together along with their kids. Probably what is most intriguing about the show is how different Kate and Allie are, yet how well they compliment each other as friends.

MY TOP 5 EPISODES:

(okay, it's 6 - I couldn't decide between 2 for the #5 spot...actually, I was dying to do a top 10 - there are so many great episodes - Whatever Happened to Romance, Allie's Affair, Upstairs Downstairs, The Reunion, Dates of Future Past, Wanted: One Husband - but I'll resist...)

#5 The Matlese Chotchke
(season 3)
Emma's birthday present from her dad throws the whole house into chaos when art buyers, smugglers and cops come out of the woodwork trying to get it off her. As it turns out, all of the smugglers and buyers are actors hired by Emma's dad as an exciting birthday prank.

#5(tie) Almost Married
(season 5)
Kate, Ted, Allie, and Bob go away together for the weekend, but are surprised when the "luxury cabin" in the woods is a dump...and there's an escaped murderer on the loose in the area! The game of Trivial Pursuit is probably my favorite part of this one.

#4 My Dinner With Kate and Allie
(season 2)
Allie is bummed that her ex-husband has remarried and Kate is getting over her break-up with Ted, so they decide to cheer themselves up with a lobster dinner. There are some really great scenes in this one that really highlight the friendship between the two women and their very different personalities/lifestyles.

#3 Thank You, Shirley
(season 3)
Kate's aunt/cousin? from California sends a friend who is visiting New York to meet Kate and Allie. Both of them fall for the guy, but they can't tell which one of them he's interested in. I was rooting for Allie - the underdog.

#2 The Triangle Has Four Sides
(season 5)
Kate juggles dating 2 men at the same time. She goes to great lengths to keep them from finding out about each other...but they do anyway. And when they don't care that she's dating both of them, she dumps them both and goes back to an old flame (Ted).

#1 The Dilemma With Emma
(season 5)
Everybody is having relationship problems. Emma can't get a date, Jennie and Jason break up, Chip and his girlfriend fight because she's drooling over a Matt Dillon movie, and Kate's latest date is boring and self-centered. Finally, Emma meets someone and brings him to dinner - but everyone hates him. The dinner scene is a great Kate moment.
