HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER
In the year 2030, a middle-aged Ted Mosby is telling his teenage children the story of how he met their mother. Each episode is a flashback - part of the story Ted is telling his children - about him and his best friends Marshall, Barney, Robin, and Lilly. And, often, we get flashbacks within the flashbacks, which is always fun...and FUNNY. Aside from the title theme of how Ted met the mother of his children, the show is basically about people in their twenties dealing with their social lives, careers, and relationships. And it's good! My favorite character is, without a doubt, Barney - played by Neil Patrick Harris (aka Doogie Howser).
There are not a lot of good clips available, but I did find a video of the cast sharing their favorites. Coincidentally, most of my favorites are included! Check it out!
#5 Swarley
(season 2)
Marshall, recovering from being dumped by Lilly, goes out on a date with a woman who Barney says has "crazy eyes". But my favorite part of this episode is the fact that the woman, who works in a coffee shop, writes "Swarley" on Barney's coffee cup instead of "Barney". So everyone starts calling him Swarley - and variations of Swarley (Swarles, Swarlos, etc).
#4 Arrivederci, Fiero
(season 2)
Marshall's car breaks down just before reaching 200,000 miles. While the car is in the shop, the group reminisces about various experiences in the car. College Ted and College Marshall - priceless! Probably my favorite scene is Barney learning to drive.
#3 How I Met Everyone Else
(season 3)
Everyone trades stories of how they met each other in a great flashback episode. This episode also features Barney's crazy/hot scale, which is very funny :-)
#2 Showdown
(season 2)
Barney goes on The Price is Right!!!! Apparently, when he was very young, his mother told him that Bob Barker was his father, so he goes on the show to get close to his dad. Aside from Barney on TPIR, I love the scene where Ted writes the too tame wedding toast about hand holding. Lilly having to gain weight to fit into her wedding dress is good, too. All around GREAT episode!
#1 Slap Bet
(season 2)
Robin has a secret...
Where you can see this show: Monday nights at 8:30/7:30c on CBS
